Technical Tour
Technical Tour A:Sanmen AP1000, Zhejiang Province
Time: Oct. 14, 8:00-16:00 (No additional cost)
Meeting Point: Eton Hotel
Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant is located at the Sanmen County, Zhejiang Province, in the eastern coastal areas of China. It is 340 km south of Shanghai. Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant will adopt WEC AP1000 technology for its construction by Westinghouse Electric Co.& Shaw Group Inc. Consortium. It is panning to build 6 AP1000 nuclear power plant units at the total power of 7500MW, constructed by three phrases. Phrase I started construction on April 19, 2009.
The AP1000 is the only Generation III+ reactor to receive Design Certification from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The AP1000 features innovative passive safety systems and modular construction.
The technical tour will guide you to the construction site of AP1000 unit 1, which is the first AP1000 worldwide! You will surely get deep impression and unforgettable experiences.

Technical Tour B:Test Facilities at SJTU
Time: Oct. 14, 9:00-14:00 (No additional cost)
Meeting Point: Eton Hotel
Established in 1958, the Nuclear Engineering Department (SNSE) of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is the only nuclear engineering department in Southeast China. The infrastructures for education and research, such as experimental facilities and NPP simulation laboratory, have been established mainly focusing on the water-cooled reactor technology.
For thermal-hydraulics of advanced nuclear systems, SNSE has established a thermal-hydraulic experimental base with test facilities of different scales and functions, including supercritical Water (SWAMUP: 30.0MPa, 550°C) and supercritical Freon (SMOTH) test loops, pressure vessel external cooling (REPEC) test facility and passive containment cooling (MICARE) test facility etc.
For safety analysis and simulation of nuclear power plant, SNSE has established a full-scale nuclear power plant simulation laboratory based on numerical analysis programs and advanced instrumentation and control technology.
For the studies of reactor structural material of current and next generation water-cooled reactor, SNSE has established several material corrosion test facilities containing autoclaves for supercritical water conditions (30.0MPa, 650°C), autoclaves for PWR operating conditions and water chemistry control loops.
This technical tour will offer you the opportunity to visit all the facilities and to discuss in details with the faculty members on site.
